PADUCAH, KY – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) say a Paducah man is in custody after fleeing from KSP Troopers. Just before 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, a Trooper observed a red Chevrolet Corvette traveling at 105 mph on Interstate 69 near Draffenville. The Trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle which accelerated in an attempt to flee.
Troopers pursued the suspect along Interstate 69 and continued onto Interstate 24 in McCracken County. The Corvette passed multiple vehicles on the shoulder of the interstate before exiting onto Husbands Road in Paducah.
The pursuit was briefly terminated due to traffic conditions but the suspect vehicle was observed by various law enforcement officers traveling on local roadways in the area.
The Corvette was spotted again when it travelled in the direction of a State Trooper who observed the suspect drive into the yards of multiple residences.
After traveling onto a dead end road, the suspect vehicle became disabled in a wooded area near Custis Road.
The driver and passenger were detained without incident by Kentucky State Police.
A passenger was interviewed and released without being charged.
The driver, 29-year-old Otis D. McKinney, was arrested and charged with multiple offenses in Marshall and McCracken County to include:
- Reckless Driving
- Wanton Endangerment
- Fleeing and Evading Police
- Criminal Mischief
McKinney was lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
