LONDON, KY - The London Police Department is reporting that on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at approximately 10:45 pm, Officer Mikey Ashurst arrested Rodney N. Packer, 65 of Keavy, KY.
Officer Ashurst responded to assist Constable Robert Smith who had located a vehicle which had exited the roadway and driven into a ditch.
Constable Smith also located the operator, Packer who appeared to be under the influence.
Upon arrival, Officer Ashurst made contact with Packer and observed that he had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person and he had an open alcoholic beverage in the vehicle.
It was determined that Packer was under the influence, he was placed under arrest without incident and later lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
Rodney N. Packer was charged with:
- Operating a Motor Vehicle U/Influence Alcohol 1st Degree (Aggravated Circumstance)
- Possession of an Open Alcoholic Beverage Container
- Operating on a Suspended or Revoked Operator's License
