Persistent Felony Offender II Arrest in London, Kentucky after Driver found with Hand Gun and Drugs during Traffic Stop

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Cyruss McVey along with Deputy Matt Walker arrested Mark Miller age 62 of Bright Shade Ln., Mount Vernon, KY on Saturday afternoon June 8, 2024 at approximately 3:53 PM.

The arrest occurred on Hal Rogers Parkway in London near the intersection with North Main St. following a traffic stop conducted on a blue Ford Freestar that had conducted an unsafe maneuver with his vehicle nearly causing another vehicle to crash into Deputy McVey's cruiser.

During the traffic stop the driver was determined to be under the influence and was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine, digital scales, glass pipes and other paraphernalia.

In addition, deputies found the driver in possession of a Taurus hand gun and learned that he was a convicted felon.

Mark Miller was charged with:

  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Reckless driving
  • Possession of a handgun by a convicted felon
  • Persistent felony offender II
  • Failure to yield right-of-way.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel Correctional Center.
