VICTIM IDENTIFIED IN FATAL CRASH ON KENTUCKY 638 IN LAUREL COUNTY

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root and London City Police Chief Chuck Johnson are reporting that Laurel Deputy Brad Mink along with London City Police Officer Hobie Daugherty who are members of the London – Laurel County Crash Reconstruction Team are investigating a two vehicle fatal traffic crash which occurred on KY 638 approximately 1 1/2 miles east of London on Wednesday afternoon June 19, 2024 at approximately 2:37 PM.

Laurel Sheriff black n gold John Root 200The investigating team reports that apparently a silver colored Chevrolet Malibu was pulling out of a parking lot there and pulled into the path of a Ford pickup crashing into the Ford pickup as it attempted to avoid collision.

The driver of the silver colored Chevrolet Malibu was identified as: Edith Taylor age 64 of London – transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased a short time later.

A seven year old passenger in that vehicle received non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. No other injuries were reported in either vehicle.

Assisting at the scene for the Laurel County Sheriff's office were: Laurel Sheriff's K-9/shift Sgt. Gary Mehler, Deputy Allen Turner, and Detective Taylor McDaniel. Also assisting deputies at the scene were: Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, Laurel County Volunteer Fire Department, London Laurel Rescue Squad, Laurel County DPS/Emergency Management. Also assisting on the investigation was the Laurel County Coroner's Office.

The roadway was shut down 3 hours but is now reopened.
