FATAL TRAFFIC CRASH MONDAY ON U.S. 25 IN LAUREL COUNTY, KENTUCKY

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: The London–Laurel County Accident Reconstruction Team comprised of Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Brad Mink and Deputy Joe Breeding along with London City Police officer Hobie Daugherty and Lt. Ryan Jackson investigated a single vehicle traffic fatality Monday in Laurel County.

The crash occurred on U.S. 25 approximately 7 miles South of London on Monday evening July 1, 2024 at approximately 5:03 PM.

Investigators report that apparently a 2007 Honda motorcycle was traveling northbound on U.S. 25 when it lost control ejecting the male driver and female passenger.

  • The driver, identified as: Randy Schenk age 54 of Corbin, KY —flown to UK Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.
  • The passenger, identified as: Sherry Schenk age 48 of Corbin, KY —transported by Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County to a London hospital where she was pronounced deceased a short time later from fatal injuries.

Cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene for the Laurel County Sheriff's office was: Deputy Austyn Weddle and Deputy Zach Allen. Also assisting at the scene were: Lily Fire and Rescue; London Laurel Rescue squad; Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County. Also assisting on the investigation was the Laurel County Coroner's office.
