GREENVILLE, KY – Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 2 troopers on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 arrested a Logan County man following a multi-county pursuit after an alleged shoplifting incident.
Muhlenberg County dispatch received a call from the Central City Walmart in reference to two individuals shoplifting. The Powderly Police Department and Central City Police Department attempted to stop a silver 2018 Toyota Camry on KY-189 Bypass near Powderly where the pursuit started.
Kentucky State Police joined the pursuit in a support capacity as well as the Greenville Police Department and the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office. Troopers and officers pursued the vehicle through Muhlenberg, Hopkins, and Mclean Counties on roadways including KY 601, KY 175, KY 70, KY 85, KY 81, KY 181, Oak St, and KY 431.
The suspect driver in the Toyota Camry, later identified as Sean D. Stratton, 36, of Russellville KY, and passenger Selexus C. Zamperla, 28, of Madisonville, KY were taken into custody following a legal intervention maneuver by KSP after Stratton began driving southbound in the northbound lane into oncoming traffic on KY-189 Bypass.
Sean D. Stratton was arrested by KSP and charged with:
- Speeding 26 MPH or Greater
- Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st degree (Motor Vehicle)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st degree, 2nd offense (Methamphetamine)
- Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence 1st (Aggravated Circumstances)
- Drug Paraphernalia
- Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree (Police Officer)
- Criminal Mishchief 1st Degree
- Improperly on Left Side of Road
- Reckless Driving
- Theft by Unlawful Taking over $500
Selexus C. Zamperla was arrested by the Central City Police Department and charged with:
- Public Intoxication
- Theft by Unlawful Taking over $500
Both individuals were lodged in the Muhlenberg County Jail.
