CLAY CITY, KY – Kentucky State Police report that on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at approximately 7:05 PM, KSP Morehead Post received a call from Powell County Dispatch for assistance with an injury collision. The collision occurred in the community of Clay City.
Through the investigation, it was determined that Lorena Ruth Fugate, 87 years of age from Clay City, was in the roadway when she was struck by a Toyota Tacoma.
The Toyota was being operated by Christopher Spencer, 27 years of age from Clay City. Ms. Fugate received fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased by Powell County Coroner Megan Davis.
KSP was assisted by Clay City Police Department, Powell County Fire and EMS, and Powell County Coroner’s Office.
This collision remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police, Morehead.
