CORBIN KY - The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is reporting that Post 11, London responded to a single vehicle fatal collision that occurred just after 5:30 pm. Yesterday (September 11, 2024). The accident occurred on Interstate I-75 at the 21-mile marker northbound in Whitley County.
Through preliminary investigation, officers determined a commercial vehicle, operated by 56-year-old David N. Nies of Sioux Falls, SD. was traveling north on Interstate I-75 when he lost control of his vehicle leaving the roadway and drove up an embankment striking several trees and overturning. Mr. Nies succumbed to his injuries and pronounced deceased by the Whitley County Coroner’s Office. Whitley County Coroner’s Office notified the next of kin.
KSP Commercial Vehicle Sgt. Michael Hamblin is continuing the investigation. He was assisted at the scene by additional Post 11 personnel, Whitley Co. Ambulance Service, and the Whitley City Fire Department and the Whitley County Coroner’s Office.
