CLAY COUNTY, FL — The Clay County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) reports that: On the evening of Friday 13, 2024, members of the CCSO Task Force were actively attempting to locate and apprehend, Steve Randle Miracle, 33 years of age. Probable cause existed for Mr. Miracle's arrest for residential burglary in Clay County.
Task Force Deputies were able to locate Mr. Miracle operating a vehicle on US Highway 17, south of Green Cove Springs. Prior to conducting a traffic stop deputies observed Mr. Miracle operating his vehicle in a manner that was consistent with someone that may be under the influence or impaired.
Task Force Deputies attempted to conduct the traffic stop at which time Mr. Miracle intentionally tried to ram one of the Task Force Deputy's vehicles. The Deputy had to take drastic evasive action to avoid being struck by Mr. Miracle. Mr. Miracle fled the attempted traffic stop location and continued to drive recklessly and at a high rate of speed. As Task Force Deputies pursued and attempted to stop Mr. Miracle he continued down CR 209 south and upon entering a curve at a high rate of speed he left the roadway causing his vehicle to rollover.
Clay County Fire Rescue was immediately notified and Task Force Deputies attempted life-saving efforts on Mr. Miracle, however he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by Clay County Fire Rescue personnel. As is per our policy, the Florida Highway Patrol was contacted to respond and to conduct an independent investigation of the incident.
