FRANKFORT, KY — Delana Kelley, a senior at Eminence Independent School, has won the 2024 "Promote Your School" scholarship essay contest sponsored by the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA).
"Delana's winning essay highlights how education can change a family's trajectory for generations. I've seen that first hand as a teacher and coach," said Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman. "Congratulations to Delana and Eminence Independent School on this recognition, and thank you for reminding us all the ways that education makes a community stronger."
"Delana's essay is motivational in showing how educational opportunities in rural areas can help students to achieve their personal goals and also result in a stronger community," KHEAA Executive Director Jo Carole Ellis said. "All Kentuckians investing in their education have a positive impact on their communities' prosperity."
Kelley will receive a $500 scholarship when she enrolls in college. KHEAA staff will do a photo shoot at the school, with the photos featured in future KHEAA publications.
