OWENTON, KY – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is reporting that on Monday, October 7, 2024 at approximately 5:34 pm EST, KSP Post 5, Campbellsburg received a call in reference to a helicopter crash in Owenton near Kentucky Highway 22 East. Numerous KSP Post 5 troopers as well as other first responders responded to the scene.
Once on scene, KSP troopers were able to determine that an Air Evac flight which had three personnel on board en route to a medical transport had crashed. Gale Alleman, Bethany Aicken, and James Welsh were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Owen County Coroner.
Kentucky State Police Post 5 is conducting the death investigation. Next of kin has been notified. The aircraft crash investigation is being conducted by the NTSB and the FAA.
