CORBIN, KY - The Knox County, KY Sheriff's Department is reporting that on Sunday, October 6, 2024, Knox County Deputy Thomas Martin responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a residence on Standard Avenue in Corbin.
When deputies arrived at the complaint scene they noticed the front door was open and they could hear people inside the residence.
After making contact with the owners, Deputy Martin arrested a male and female inside the residence.
The suspects were identified as: 32-year-old Christine Johnson of Corbin, KY and 27-year-old Travis D. Scearse of Corbin, KY.
Christine Johnson was charged with:
- Burglary-3rd Degree
- Possession of Burglary Tools
- Criminal Mischief-2nd Degree
- Public Intoxication/Controlled Substance
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Travis Scearse was charged with:
- Burglary-3rd Degree
- Possession of Burglary Tools
- Criminal Mischief-2nd Degree
- Public Intoxication/Controlled Substance
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
In addition, Scearse was wanted on a Knox County Arrest Warrant for:
- Wanton Endangerment-2nd Degree
- Assault-4th Degree
- Criminal Mischief-3rd Degree
Also, he was wanted on two (2) Knox County Bench Warrants for failure to pay the fines on:
- Fleeing or Evading Police-2nd Degree
- Giving Officer False Identifying Information
- Illegal Possession of Legend Drugs
- Prescription Controlled Substance not in Proper Container
- Operating on Suspended or Revoked Operators License
- No Insurance charges
In addition, Travis Scearse was wanted on three (3) Whitley County bench warrants for failure to pay the fines on:
- Possession of Controlled Substance-1st Degree
- Two counts of Failure to Wear Seat Belts
- No Registration Plates
- No Insurance
- Operating on Suspended or Revoked Operators License charges
Both, Travis Scearse and Christine Johnson were lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
Corbin Police Officer Jarrett Carr assisted in the arrests.
