MOUNT STERLING, KY – CHI Saint Joseph Health announced Thursday that Matt Grimshaw, MBA, has been selected as the market president for the health system following a comprehensive national search of outstanding candidates. Grimshaw will begin in the new role in mid-December. He is currently the market president of Trinity Health System in Steubenville, Ohio.
“Matt is passionate about delivering excellent health care services to those in need and has successfully navigated a wide range of strategic challenges during his tenure with Trinity,” said Doug Lawson, South Region president for CommonSpirit Health. “He made a significant impact on the Ohio health care landscape, and I am pleased that we will retain his passion and talent in the region.”
Both CHI Saint Joseph Health and Trinity Health System are a part of the South Region of CommonSpirit Health, which was created by the alignment of Catholic Health Initiatives and Dignity Health as a single ministry in 2019. It is one of the largest health care systems in the U.S., with 137 hospitals and more than 1,000 care centers across 21 states.
“I am humbled and honored to be selected for this position within the CommonSpirit South Region at Saint Joseph Health.” Grimshaw said. “My priority for the past seven years has been to position Trinity Health System for long-term success. With the opening of our new tower, strengthened clinical programs, medical education and the new St. Clairsville Neighborhood hospital, set to open next summer, I am confident that the Trinity Health System team is ready for the next chapter. I am excited to be joining the excellent team at Saint Joseph Health and to being a part of continuing their nearly 150 year legacy of providing quality health care in the region.”
Grimshaw is married to Dr. Annette Grimshaw, an optometrist, who is looking forward to joining an area practice in the new year. They have three children: University of Alabama freshman Josh; high school sophomore Julia; and seventh grader Joelle. Matt has a strong faith and strong family ties, and he enjoys traveling, sports of any kind, and he is a bit of a foodie. You can also find Matt leading musical worship at his local church on the weekends.
Grimshaw expresses his sincere gratitude to the people of the Ohio Valley for the warm welcome he and his family have received since relocating to the area. “During our time here, we have made lifelong connections,” he said. “We will always look fondly on the memories that we have made with the people here.”
