Arrest of Suspect with Bloodshot Eyes when found in Possession of Drugs at Manchester Walmart in Clay County, KY

MANCHESTER, KY - Clay County Sheriff, Patrick Robinson, reports that on Monday, November 18, 2024 Deputy Walter Marker responded to a call in reference to an intoxicated male at Manchester Walmart.

Upon arrival, Deputy Marker, came in contact with the male subject identified as Johnny Hensley, age 43, of Manchester, KY and began an investigation. During the investigation, Deputy Marker observed that the subject was unsteady on his feet, had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes. Deputy Marker also detected the odor of marijuana emitting from his person. 

Johnny Hensley was determined to be under the influence and escorted outside to Deputy Marker's cruiser where a search of his person was conducted incident to arrest.

During the search, the suspect was discovered in possession of marijuana and an unspecified controlled substance.  Hensley was placed under arrest and transported to the Clay County Detention Center.

Johnny Hensley was charged with:

  • PUBLIC INTOXICATION-CONTROLL SUB(EXCLUDES ALCOHOL)
  • POSS OF MARIJUANA
  • POSS CONT SUB 1ST DEG 1ST OFF (DRUG UNSPECIFIED)
  • PRESCRIPTION CONT SUB NOT PROPER CONTAIN 1ST OFF

This individual was lodged at the Clay County Detention Center where he remains at the time of this publishing.
