BEARVILLE, KY (December 27, 2024) – On Thursday, December 26, 2024, at 10:27 P.M., Kentucky State Police, Post 13, Hazard, received a 911 call in reference to a single vehicle accident with injuries on KY-80, in the Bearville community of Knott County.
Trooper's, along with medical personnel responded to the scene. Preliminary investigation indicates that William T. Campbell, 37, of Leburn, was operating a white Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on KY-80 when his vehicle crossed the median into the west bound lanes.
The vehicle traveled off the westbound shoulder striking the rock embankment. Campbell was transported to Hazard A.R.H, where he succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced deceased by the Perry County Coroner's Office. A passenger inside the vehicle was treated and released on scene with minor injuries.
The operator of the vehicle was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. The passenger of the vehicle was belted. Impairment is believed to be a contributing factor for the collision, toxicology reports are pending. This incident remains under investigation by Trooper Kyle Amburgey.
