MANCHESTER, KY - On New Year's Eve, December 31, 2024, at approximately 7:10 PM, the City of Manchester Fire Department was dispatched by Clay County E-911 to provide mutual aid in Bright Shade for a technical off-road rescue.

Upon arrival, fire department personnel joined forces with the Kentucky State Police and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. The rescue operation involved navigating approximately 200 yards through a creek and wooded area to reach an injured male who had fallen about 40 feet with an electrical pole collapsing onto him.

Firefighters, along with Kentucky State Police and Clay County EMS, successfully packaged the subject for transport out of the woods. All personnel involved cleared the scene without further incident.
