FRANKFORT, KY. (Jan. 3, 2025) — Andy Westberry, communications director for the Republican Party of Kentucky (RPK), issued the following statement regarding the Beshear administration's refusal to address Kentucky's ongoing foster care crisis.
“Andy Beshear appears more content ignoring Kentucky's foster care crisis than finding a solution. From stonewalling Auditor Ball’s request for access to a database that tracks the state’s handling of abuse and neglect cases to refusing to implement an overwhelmingly bipartisan program designed to keep families intact and children out of the foster care system, this administration has shown a disturbing pattern in its approach to vulnerable Kentuckians in need of help.
“Instead of finding a solution to a crisis that we have known about since July of 2023, this Governor spent most of 2024 either shilling for Biden and Kamala on the campaign trail or shamelessly jockeying for the VP slot after Kamala and the Democrats booted Biden from the ticket in July. Instead of flying to Switzerland on the taxpayer’s dime to discuss the economic accomplishments of Kentucky Republicans, the governor’s time would be better spent in Frankfort, working with the General Assembly during the short 30-day session to get some help for these vulnerable Kentuckians.”
