LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Detective Tommy Houston is investigating a reported shooting which occurred off Wren Road, approximately 4 miles south of London on Sunday afternoon January 5th, 2025 at approximately 1:08 PM.
Sheriff's investigators were dispatched by London – Laurel County 911 Communication Ctr. to a complaint that a male subject had been shot there.
When investigators arrived at the scene, they found a male subject had been shot by a shotgun that pelleted his chest and face. This individual was taken to CHI St. Joseph Health hospital in London for treatment of a serious, non life threatening injury.
Investigators learned that allegedly 2 males outside a residence off Wren Road were involved in an argument over property when one male left, retrieved a weapon, and returned shooting the other male, who was age 34 of London.
Arrested was: James Smith age 56 of London, KY charged with:
- Assault 1st degree
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
