LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Bobby Roberts arrested two individuals on Monday morning December 30, 2024 at approximately 6:54 AM.
The arrests occurred on Walton Drive in London following a traffic stop conducted on a black Ford Edge that had been observed traveling on KY 192 in the wrong lane of traffic nearly striking Deputy Roberts cruiser.
During the traffic stop the driver and passenger were both determined to be under the influence.
In addition, the two individuals were found in possession of suspected methamphetamine. The driver had attempted to dispose of the methamphetamine during the traffic stop.
The two arrested individuals were identified as: The driver, Joshua Evans, age 43, of Elizabethtown, KY and the passenger, Tyler Riley, age 30, of Elizabethtown, KY.
Joshua Evans was charged with:
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
- Reckless driving in a work zone; driving a motor vehicle using a handheld mobile telephone
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine
- Tampering with physical evidence; possession of drug paraphernalia
Tyler Riley was charged with:
- Public intoxication – controlled substances
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
