PHONE SCAM RESURFACES IN LAUREL COUNTY, KENTUCKY

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: A phone scam has resurfaced in Laurel County where the caller is misrepresenting the Sheriff's office by identifying himself as a deputy.

Subjects are demanding money trying to scam citizens.

Do not give them your financial information and do not pay them!!

The caller is advising citizens to pay bond money regarding a legal issue such as a failure to appear in court, missed jury duty, or an outstanding warrant.

The caller is telling people to pay money to take care of the issue.

This is a scam to steal money from unsuspecting citizens!

The Laurel County Sheriff's Office will never call citizens on the telephone demanding money regarding a case or an outstanding warrant.
