FRANKFORT, Ky. – As part of the national observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Governor Steve Beshear urged Kentuckians to find volunteer opportunities this weekend to honor Dr. King’s legacy.
“I’d like to invite all Kentuckians to participate in the National Day of Service this Saturday,” Gov. Steve Beshear said. “Whether you join a community volunteer effort or organize your own event or small project, your participation can make a difference in our Commonwealth. Your service honors the life and civil rights work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and helps build strong communities across Kentucky.”
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be observed on Monday, Jan. 21. This year, the Presidential inauguration coincides with the King holiday, and President Obama is also urging all Americans to volunteer.
