LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Daniel Reed along with shift Sgt. Allen Turner and Deputy Carly Dorraugh and Constable Robert Smith arrested two individuals on Thursday night February 20 at approximately 10:42 PM.
The arrests were the result of an investigation following deputies being dispatched by London – Laurel County 911 Communication Ctr. to a reported single vehicle traffic crash with possible injuries involving a blue Toyota RAV4 that had apparently struck a tree on Parkside Road approx. 4 miles south of London.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they determined that two occupants had allegedly fled the scene of the crash. As the investigation continued deputies determined that the two individuals had received a ride to a residence off O and W Ln., the address where the vehicle was registered to.
LSO Deputies traveled to the residence off O and W Ln. and were allowed entry to the residence by the owner of the property. Deputies located the male and female suspects (who were occupants of the crashed vehicle) in a back bedroom passed out. Deputies determined that the male subject who was identified as Andrew Lamb, age 30, of London, KY was the driver of the vehicle and the passenger in the vehicle was determined to be Courtney Champion, age 30, of London, KY.
Deputies learned from the owner of the residence that the driver of the vehicle had taken the vehicle without his permission.
In addition, they determined that bedroom where the two individuals were located belonged to two small children and noted finding drug paraphernalia including used needles there, and suspected drugs.
It was also determined that both subjects were wanted on indictment warrants and other warrants.
Arrested was: The driver, Andrew Lamb and the passenger in the vehicle, Courtney Champion.
Andrew Lamb charged with:
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – second offense
- Three counts of wanton endangerment – first-degree
- Leaving the scene of an accident
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Selling/transfer simulated controlled substances – first offense
- Operating on a suspended or revoked operator's license
- Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle – first offense
In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel Circuit Court indictment warrant of arrest charging:
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense
A Grant County District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:
- Failure to appear in court
Courtney Champion was charged with:
- Leaving the scene of an accident
- Two counts of wanton endangerment – first-degree
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Sale/transfer simulated controlled substances – first offense
In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel Circuit Court indictment warrant of arrest charging:
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense
A Grant County District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:
- Failure to appear in court
In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of:
- Theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting
These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
