UPDATE: LONDON, KY — According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root: Another business in London is reporting that on Tuesday, February 25th, the 2 suspects previously posted on our earlier press release used 10 fifty dollar counterfeit bills at their business located off U.S. 25, 2 miles north of London.
Sheriff John Root reports that Laurel Sheriff's Shift Sgt. Allen Turner is conducting an investigation after 10 counterfeit $50 bills were passed at a local business off Keavy Road on the 25th. Laurel Sheriff's Sgt. Allen Turner continues to investigate. Pictured are the suspects taken from video surveillance.

**Another instance of fake/counterfeit bills being passed:
Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Detective Taylor McDaniel is investigating yet another incidence where counterfeit/fake money was passed at a local business in London and reported to the Sheriff's office on Friday morning February 28, 2025. This movie prop bill was a $100 bill marked on it For Motion Picture Use Only – and is movie prop money. It is unknown whether this instance is related to the two previous incidences reported this week where counterfeit money was passed.
The following is a list containing the security measures that are present on actual real currency, (5, 10, 20, 50, 100 bills).
Actual authentic U.S. currency will have the following security measures incorporated on each bill.
• A security thread with the denomination of the bill is embedded in the bill
• A watermark containing the portrait image of the portrait on the bill will be located to the right detectable from the front and back of the bill
• Color shifting ink
• Closely examine the micro printing for sharpness in the fine print
• The bill will have distinctive ridges
• The texture of the paper is different from ordinary paper
• Colored fibers – red and blue fibers are embedded in the paper
***If even one of the security features listed above is not present on the bill in question, then it is a counterfeit bill, or movie prop bill. The fake bills all have the same serial number on each bill.
This hundred dollar bill recovered today is marked with For Motion Picture Use Only and is a fake bill.

LONDON, KY (February 27th, 2025) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff's Detective Taylor McDaniel is conducting an investigation after a bank employee at a local bank detected 10 counterfeit $50 bills that had been received in a bank bag from a local business off Barbourville Road.
