Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman has achieved another victory for Kentuckians. In January, Coleman announced a settlement to a years-long case that many of us doubted would see resolution. Not just that, but the proposed settlement provides hundreds of millions of dollars to our often-embattled public pensions system.

This settlement follows Coleman’s other great work to protect our communities, like the $110 million settlement he secured with Kroger in January, which will support efforts to combat the opioid crisis. These common-sense solutions are what our Commonwealth needs.

Instead of being driven by politics, Coleman’s pensions settlement is driven by a real understanding of the important role that pensions and a secure retirement play in the lives of everyday Kentuckians. In fact, protecting our public servants’ pensions is a priority no matter which side of the aisle you sit.

From where I am sitting, I want to thank Attorney General Coleman for continuing to prove his genuine care for our communities and champion solutions that benefit them. I only hope that the courts will approve the settlement, and let its benefits finally be realized.
