GALLATIN COUNTY, KY – Kentucky State Police Post 5 was contacted by Gallatin County dispatch on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 8:18 p.m. in reference to a two vehicle collision on KY Highway 1039. The collision occurred near the KY HWY 1039 intersection with Knox Lillard Road.
Kentucky State Police Post 5 responded to the scene. The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2007 Chrysler mini van was traveling north on KY HWY 1039 when for unknown reasons it crossed the center line and struck a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe that was traveling south.
The operator of the Chrysler, identified as 18 year old Kyle Jones of Ghent, was pronounced deceased on scene. Next of kin has been notified.
The operator of the Chevrolet, identified as 20 year old Andrew Heichelbech of Owenton was transported by helicopter to the hospital as a result of the injuries he sustained.
This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by Kentucky State Police Post 5. KSP was assisted on scene by Gallatin County Sheriff's Office, Gallatin County EMS, and the Gallatin County Coroner.
