LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's shift Sgt. Allen Turner took a 17-year-old male juvenile into custody on Thursday night March 27, 2025 at approximately 8:51 PM.
The arrest and charges were the result of an attempted traffic stop on a silver Yamaha motorcycle that sped through three red traffic lights on Highway 192 in London as Sgt. Turner activated his emergency equipment to conduct a stop, and the vehicle failed to stop, traveling onto I-75 northbound for over 24 miles driving extremely recklessly at speeds more than 150 MPH along I-75, nearly causing traffic crashes before exiting at mile marker exit 62, the Mount Vernon exit where the driver was taken into custody safely with assistance from Kentucky State Police Troopers.
The juvenile was charged with:
- Receiving stolen property $1000 or more but under $10,000
- Speeding more than 26 mph over the speed limit
- Reckless driving
- Disregarding a traffic control device – traffic light
- Fleeing or evading police – first-degree – motor vehicle
- Two counts of wanton endangerment – first-degree – police officer is victim
- One count of wanton endangerment – first-degree.

It was determined through investigation that the motorcycle had just been stolen when Sheriff's Sgt. Allen Turner observed it.
After the male juvenile was taken into custody and a court designated worker summoned to assist on the investigation, the juvenile was ordered detained at the Breathitt Juvenile Detention Facility.
Also assisting was Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Daniel Reed, Kentucky State Police, Rockcastle County Sheriff's Office, and Mount Vernon Police Department.
