Northeastern Kentucky Man Sentenced for Crimes Against Multiple Young Girls

FRANKFORT, KY – A child predator who sexually abused young girls for years is heading to prison.  Attorney General Russell Coleman announced that action from the Attorney General’s Special Prosecutions Unit will put Chester Griffith, 76, behind bars for the next eight years.

Griffith, of Grayson, was sentenced Friday for crimes against children under the age of 16.

In January, Chester Griffith pleaded guilty to:

  • Two felony counts of Sexual Abuse First Degree
  • Two counts of Criminal Attempt to Commit Sexual Abuse First Degree for two additional victims under the age of twelve

He will be a lifetime registrant on the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry and a 10-year Interpersonal Protective Order (IPO) will also be entered for each of the four victims.

“After years of abuse and predatory behavior, this criminal is where he belongs.  We are grateful for the courage of these victims in coming forward and the hard work of investigators and prosecutors so that this man can never harm another child,” said Attorney General Coleman.

The Kentucky State Police investigated the case. Deputy Executive Director of the Attorney General’s Special Prosecutions Unit Ramsey Dallam and Assistant Attorney General Todd Willard prosecuted the case on behalf of the Commonwealth. Erica Paske with the Attorney General’s Office of Victim Advocacy provided services to the victims.
