MAN ARRESTED, ILLEGAL NARCOTICS SEIZED AFTER TRAFFIC STOP ON HWY 914 IN PULASKI CO., KY

SOMERSET, KY — Pulaski County Sheriff Bobby Jones reports that: A Pulaski County man in custody following a traffic stop on Sunday.

The incident began when Detectives from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division were conducting surveillance on the Red Roof Inn, after receiving information an individual was staying at the hotel and selling illegal narcotics.

Detectives observed individuals coming and going from the hotel room. After a short time, Detective Tan Hudson observed the suspect, Robert G. Coomer, 41, of Somerset, exit the hotel room, wearing a back pack, and enter into the back passenger seat of a vehicle.

Detectives followed the vehicle to Highway 914. While on Highway 914, Detective Hudson discovered the vehicle had a verify proof status, for the insurance on the vehicle. Detective Hudson also observed the vehicle operating above the posted speed limit. Detective Hudson conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle.

Detectives approached the vehicle and could detect an odor of marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle. Detective Hudson asked for consent to search the vehicle, which the driver consented to.

Upon searching the vehicle, Detectives located a black back in the back seat of the vehicle, where Robert Glen Coomer was located. Inside of the bag, Detectives located approximately 107.6 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a Hydrocodone tablet, digital scales, baggies, and a glass smoking pipe. The contraband was seized and the suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Pulaski County Detention Center.

Robert Coomer is charged with:

  • TRAFF IN CONT SUB, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFF - (> OR = 2 GMS METHAMPHETAMINE)
  • DRUG PARAPHERNALIA - BUY/POSSESS
  • POSS OF MARIJUANA
  • POSS CONT SUB 1ST DEG 1ST OFF (DRUG UNSPECIFIED)

Coomer is currently lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center. An appearance in District Court is scheduled for Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 1:30 PM.

The investigation is still ongoing by Detective Tan Hudson. The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Somerset Police Department.
