LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Robert Smith arrested Newton Loudermilk, age 49, of Pine Knot, KY on Thursday night June 12, 2025 at approximately 11:02 PM.
The arrest occurred on I–75 approximately 5 miles South of London after Deputy Smith was dispatched by London – Laurel County 911 Communication Ctr. to an injury traffic crash involving two motor vehicles on northbound I–75 near mile marker 34.
When Deputy Smith arrived at the scene, he noted detecting the odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from Newton Loudermilk, the driver of a silver Ford Focus that had been involved in the crash.
His investigation determined that apparently the Ford focus had been northbound behind a vehicle pulling a trailer and that the Ford Focus had struck the trailer in the rear. Deputy Smith determined that the driver of the Ford Focus was under the influence.
Newton Loudermilk was charged with:
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
