MANCHESTER, KY — KY Resist, a liberal activist group, will hold a protest tomorrow, Friday, June 27, 2025 against the Trump Administration, outside the Clay County Clerk’s Office at 102 Richmond Road.
The event, scheduled for Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and promoted on the KY Resist's website, calls for standing against “fascist” policies and for human rights, citing harm from actions like the U.S. strikes on Iran.
The group urges attendees to bring signs, wear sunscreen, and stand or sit, with water and snacks provided. The KY Resist website emphasizes social justice, with organizer Andrew Martin telling WKYT the group supports healthcare, wages, and LGBTQ rights. The protest has stirred criticism, with some residents calling it disruptive. One local said Manchester is “friendly and peaceful,” viewing KY Resist as “outsiders” stirring unrest, though acknowledging their right to protest.

Manchester Police Chief Jeff Couch expects a peaceful event, with extra officers on duty. “Remain respectful,” Couch said on Facebook. “Disorderly behavior will result in arrest.” He stressed community unity. "Manchester is home to some of the finest citizens in the state. Regardless of our political beliefs, we remain united by our shared commitment to community and mutual respect."
Thank you, and may God bless you all.
Chief J Couch. MPD.
The protest follows the June 21, 2025, Iran strikes, which President Trump called a “military success.” The strikes rallied Republican support locally but drew 56% national disapproval, fueling activism like KY Resist’s.
