November ‘College Application Month’

KHEAA staff, volunteers will provide assistance to help seniors complete online applications

FRANKFORT Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear has proclaimed November “College Application Month” for Kentucky high school seniors.

“All Kentucky students should consider getting an education beyond high school,” Gov. Beshear said. “Whether it’s a four-year degree or a six-month certificate program from a career and technical school, the more education you have, the better your chances of finding a well-paying job.”

He added that the more educated the work force is, the easier it is for Kentucky to attract businesses and industries to the state.

College Application Month is sponsored by the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA). KHEAA is the state agency that administers grants, the Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES), work-study and savings programs.

KHEAA outreach staff and school and community volunteers will provide hands-on assistance to help seniors complete online applications. An Online Toolkit is available at www.kheaa.com for any school or organization interested in hosting an event.
