Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, Kentucky's chief business officer, is encouraging entrepreneurs and persons interested in starting a business in Kentucky to participate in National Write a Business Plan Month this December.
"There is no better time than now to develop a plan for a business," said Grimes. "Businesses with clear plans and defined goals are more likely to succeed, and my office provides some important planning tools online."
The Kentucky One Stop Business Portal offers assistance to persons interested in starting new businesses. The business plan wizard and business plan template provide step-by-step guidance to create a business plan. Additional resources for new businesses, including research support and mentoring information, are included in the "Plan My Business" section of the Portal.
"With the tremendous tools available to entrepreneurs through the One Stop Portal, Kentucky is truly open for new business," said Grimes. "As Kentucky's chief business officer, I am always glad to welcome new business to the Commonwealth, and I am committed to ensuring that businesses’ interactions with government are efficient and effective."
The Kentucky Business One Stop Portal, onestop.ky.gov, also includes many resources for businesses already in operation, including information on taxes, insurance, and annual reporting requirements.
