(Versailles, Ky.) — On Feb. 26, 2014, at approximately 9:25 p.m., the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch and Lexington Division of Police arrested a man for charges related to possession and distribution of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor.
Andres Ortiz was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation that involved multiple agencies. Lexington police began investigating after discovering a suspect on the Internet sharing images of child sexual exploitation or what is commonly referred to as child pornography.
The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant on Feb. 26 by KSP at Ortiz’s apartment in Versailles in Woodford County. KSP was assisted on scene by Lexington police, Versailles police, Homeland Security Investigations and a Spanish-speaking interpreter from the Georgetown Police Dept.
Ortiz was lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
Equipment used to possess child pornography was seized during the execution of the search warrant and taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination. Ortiz is currently charged in Fayette County with one count of distribution of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor. He is also charged in Woodford County with four counts of possession of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor. The investigation is ongoing.
