Projects include guardrail installation, road striping, sign repairs
FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 2, 2014) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has approved nearly $2.6 million in safety improvement road projects.
The projects, which include guardrail repair, striping of narrow roadways and sign repairs, are under the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) funded by federal funds and administered by the state.
Under HSIP, the state will allocate between $25 million and $35 million this year for highway safety projects that have the potential to achieve significant reductions in highway fatalities and serious injuries.
Projects in the most recent round of lettings, by county or Department of Highways district, include:
- Whitley County – Installing guardrail on a section of Williamsburg-Corbin Road (KY 26) from just north of Sugar Creek Bottom to 0.2 miles south of Old Corbin Road – a distance of 0.44 miles. Bourne-Clark Construction LLC was awarded the contract for $40,000. Completion date: June 30.
- Knox County – Installing guardrail to a section of Barbourville-Manchester Road (KY 11) from Disappointment Hollow Road extending 0.36 miles north. George B. Stone Co. LLC was awarded the contract for $35,454. Completion date: Sept. 30.
- District 6 – Installing horizontal alignment signs on various routes in District 6 in Northern Kentucky. NH Stone Inc. was awarded the contract for $477,768. Completion date: Nov. 14.
- District 3 – Road striping of various routes in Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, Todd and Warren counties. Oglesby Construction Inc. was awarded the contract for $288,896. Completion date: Nov. 1.
- District 4 – Striping on various routes in Breckinridge, Grayson, Green, Hardin, Hart, LaRue, Marion, Meade, Nelson, Taylor and Washington counties. Central Seal Co. was awarded the contract for $330,100. Completion date: Nov. 1
- District 7 – Striping on various routes in Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford counties. Central Seal Co. was awarded the contract for $158,000. Completion date: Nov. 1.
- District 9 – Striping on various routes in Bath, Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Fleming, Greenup, Lewis, Mason, Nicholas and Rowan counties. Oglesby Construction Inc. was awarded the contract for $309,869. Completion date: Nov. 1.
- District 10 – Striping on various routes in Breathitt, Estill, Lee, Magoffin, Menifee, Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Powell and Wolfe counties. Oglesby Construction Inc. was awarded the contract for $232,222. Completion date: Nov. 1.
- District 12 – Striping on various routes in Floyd, Johnson, Knott, Lawrence, Letcher, Martin and Pike counties. Oglesby Construction Inc. was awarded the contract for $231,612. Completion date: Nov. 1.
- Districts 1 and 2 – Striping on various routes in Calloway, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Livingston, Lyon, McCracken, Marshall, Trigg, Caldwell, Christian, Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, Hopkins, McLean, Muhlenberg, Ohio, Union and Webster counties. Brehm Striping Co. Inc. was awarded the contract for $83,488. Completion date: Nov. 1.
- Districts 8 and 11 – Striping on various routes in McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne, Bell, Clay, Harlan, Knox, Laurel, Leslie and Whitley counties. Central Seal Co. was awarded the contract for $80,850. Completion date: Nov. 1.
- Districts 5 and 6 – Striping on various routes in Franklin, Henry, Oldham, Spencer, Trimble Boone, Bracken, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Harrison, Kenton, Owen, Pendleton and Robertson counties. Oglesby Construction Inc. was awarded the contract for $234,939. Completion date: Nov. 1.
- District 7 – Installing signs on various routes in Fayette and Madison counties. Central Seal Co. was awarded the contract for $86,000. Completion date: Oct. 31.
