(FRANKFORT, Ky.) --On May 19, 2014 at approximately 10:00 a.m., the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch (ECB) with the assistance of troopers from KSP Post 7 in Richmond arrested a Nicholasville man.

Arrested was: Nathan Vitai, age 26, for charges related to child pornography. Vitai is charged with 20 counts of possession of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor, 1 count of distribution of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor 1st offense, and tampering with physical evidence.

This arrest was the result of an ongoing Internet Crimes Against Children investigation by the KSP Electronic Crime Branch. Detectives with KSP ECB began the investigation in April after they discovered a suspect sharing images of child sexual exploitation over the Internet.

The investigation continued until a search warrant was executed at Vitai’s residence in Nicholasville. Following the execution of the search warrant and preview of the electronic media seized, Vitai was placed under arrest and transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center where he is currently being held under a $10,000 cash bond. A full forensic examination of the evidence is pending and the investigation is ongoing by Det. Josh Lawson.
