(Middlesboro, Ky.) On August 15, 2015 at approximately 11:09 a.m. Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan received a call from the Bell County Dispatch needing assistance with a fatal accident on Ky 186 in the Middlesboro community of Bell County. Trooper Joey Brigmon responded to the collision.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2003 Dodge Dakota driven by Cameron Powell, of New Tazewell, TN was traveling east on Ky 186 when he struck an ATV that was also traveling east on Ky 186. The operator of the ATV, Scotty Shackleford, 42, of Middlesboro was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bell County Deputy Coroner.
Mr. Powell, the operator of the Dodge Dakota was air lifted to the University of Tennessee for his injuries. His condition is not known at this time.
Case is still under investigation by KSP Reconstructionist Kenny Sergent. Also assisted at the scene was Tpr. Joey Brigmon.
