Programs offered by the Clay County Extension Office for January 2016

►We are starting 3 new Homemaker Clubs.  Are you interested in joining one of the largest women’s organizations in the county; want to learn new things; love to craft or take photographs; meet new people and become involved in the community?  Homemakers is for you!!!

...Krafters Club Organizational Meeting will be January 5, 2016 at 6:00 pm at the Extension Office.  You will be making and sharing ideas with others that enjoy making crafts.

...Photography Club Organizational Meeting will be January 12, 2016 at 6:00 pm at the Extension Office. You will be taking and sharing photographs with each other.

...Young/New Mother’s Club Organizational Meeting will be January 26, 2016 at 6:00 pm at the Extension Office.  You will be meeting with other new mothers and guest speakers, sharing experiences, ideas, etc.  If you are interested in joining any of these Homemaker Clubs, please call 598-2789 to register or for more information.

►Bedrooms and Bathrooms will be held on January 11, 2016 at 6:00 pm at the Extension Office.  Have you thought about remodeling?  While you are remodeling, have you thought about making sure your bedroom and bathroom will allow you to stay in your home regardless of age, ability or circumstances?  Remodeling your home to meet universal design standards may help you sell your home at a later date.  Come and learn about remodeling bedrooms and bathrooms.  You must call 598-2789 to register.

►Plate It Up Cooking School will be held January 14, 2016 at 6:00 pm at the Extension Office.  We will demonstrate three Plate It Up recipes for your enjoyment.  Remember, the Plate It Up recipes are for garden produce that can be grown in our local Kentucky gardens.  You must call 598-2789 to register so we will have enough food.

►Winter Wonderland (Family Reading Night) will be January 22, 2016 from 5:30 – 7:00 pm at the EXCEL Center.  Come join us for a wonderful evening of reading.  Listen to a winter story and learn about the importance of reading.  Enjoy some popcorn, hot chocolate and door prizes.  Call us and let us know if you will be attending at 598-2789.

►Heart of America Grazing Conference will be January 25-26 at Downtown Hilton in Lexington.  Call Jeff at 598-2789 for more information or a registration form.

►Learn, Network and Celebrate at Southern SAWG’s 25th Annual Conference is on January 27-30, 2016 in Lexington.  For 25 years, the Southern SAWG annual conference has been providing the practical tools and solutions you need. The program is tailored for those producing organic and sustainable food on a commercial scale and for those in our region working to improve local food systems. This year they have added several Voices from the Field activities to commemorate the progress made over the last 25 years in the local food and sustainable ag movements. If you are interested in this program call the Extension Office at 598-2789 for a brochure and more information.
