Mannon Gilbert, age 93, of Cincinnati Ohio, formerly of Oneida Kentucky passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, September 25, 2019.
Mannon is survived by three of his eleven siblings: Grant Gilbert of Las Vegas NV, Charles Gilbert of Oneida KY and Naomi Whitaker of Burnsville MS, as well as his four children: Carolyn Reed (Dave), Helen Corbin (Fred), Eddie Gilbert (Barbara), and Nancy Gilbert.
Mannon is also survived by five of his grandchildren: Mark Reed (Dina), Marla Hoskins (Steve), Gina Shelton (Caleb), Eddie Gilbert II (Elisha), and Aaron Gilbert (Jennifer), as well as 16 great grandchildren, 12 great, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Abe and Eliza Jane Gilbert, and the following siblings: Farris, Estill, Ike, Colonel, Chester, Fred, Chaney, Roy and Monroe.
Mannon was also preceded in death by his bride of 64 years, Kathleen Gilbert (nee Byrd), as well as one grandson, Daniel Corbin.
Mannon retired from Buschman Conveyors, located in Cincinnati where he worked as a machinist for 24 years.
He served as Seaman First Class in the United States Navy in WWII, USS LST 670 in the Philippines and Japan.
Mannon was loved and respected by all who met him and will be dearly missed. He leaves a lasting legacy to his family and friends of what a husband, father, and grandfather should be.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 29th at Britton Funeral Home in Manchester, KY, with Bennie Reed and Mike officiating. Burial will follow at the Squire Hensley Cemetery, in Oneida, KY.
Visitation will be held 12:00 PM on Sunday, September 29th at Britton Funeral Home in Manchester, KY.
