Wayne Howard of Asher, KY was born January 22, 1944 in Leslie County, KY to the union of the late Ottis Howard and Vina Nolan Shanks. Wayne was united in marriage to Rosetta Howard on January 11, 1974 in Jonesville, VA. Wayne worked as a factory worker in his former years and lastly, he was a retired coal miner of Shamrock Coal Company.
Wayne was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed four-wheel riding, gardening, and spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Wayne passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at the Rockcastle County Medical Center. He was 75 years old.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his step-father, Mack Shanks, brothers, Warren Fee and Charlie Shanks, and two sisters, Barbara Baker and Mary Nell Howard.
Survivors include, his loving and devoted wife, Rosetta Howard of Asher, KY, three sons, John E. Howard (Wendy) of Centralia, IL, Darin Wayne Howard (Angie) of Asher, KY, and Brandon Howard (Natasha) of Stinnett, KY; one daughter, Lesa Vick (Mike) of Cleaton, KY; one brother, Robert Gale Shanks (Sharon) of Asher, KY, and a sister, Effie C. Howard of London, KY; seven cherished grandchildren, Tiffany Bryan, Dwayne Vick, Lance Vick, Jaegan Howard, Trenton Howard, Rylan Howard, and Eli Howard; one cherished great-grandchild, Brody Bryan. A host of other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral: 1:00 P.M. – Saturday at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Graylon Short officiating.
Interment: Shanks Family Cemetery – Asher, KY
Visitation: 5:00 – 9:00 P.M. – Friday evening at Wolfe & Sons chapel.
