Obituary for Teddy Burke

Teddy Burke

Mr. Teddy Burke of Smilax, Kentucky was born April 10, 1948 in Letcher County, Kentucky to the union of the late Robert and Myrtle Meade Burke. Teddy was a United States Veteran, having proudly served in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Pauline on September 27, 1980 in Clintwood, VA. Teddy was a coal miner by occupation. He retired from the Big Elk Creek Coal Company in 1988.

After Teddy’s retirement, many of his days were spent, hunting, fishing, and spending time at the lake. Teddy was an avid fisherman, but his fishing trips were not complete without his little fishing partner, Justin. Teddy cherished the time spent with him and loved him as a grandson. Teddy departed from this walk of life on Thursday, November 07, 2019. He was 71 years old.

In addition to his parents, Teddy was preceded in death by two brothers, Zack Burke and Charlie “Shag” Burke; two sisters, Christine Roberts and Maggie Jones.

Teddy leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 39 years, Pauline Burke of Smilax, KY; his beloved children, Melinda “Pooh” Burke of Frankfort, KY and Granithy Burke (Sandy) of North Wilksboro, NC; one brother, Billy Burke (Dora) of London, KY; three sisters, Tammy Bowling of Little Leatherwood, KY, Brenda Caudill of Slemp, KY and Ollie Roberts (Mason) of Slemp, KY; two cherished grandchildren, Adam & Brooke Burke and Brittany & Adam Wagner; three cherished great-grandchildren, Mason Wagner, Eli Burke and Ariana Wagner; special grandson, Justin Fields. A host of other family and friends also survive.

Funeral: 1:00 P.M. – Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home chapel with Danny Day and Troy Smith officiating.

Interment: Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Southeast. – Hyden, Kentucky.

Visitation: 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. – Monday evening at the Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home chapel.

*Full Military Honors will be performed by the Leslie County D.A.V. Chapter #133*
