Viola Stanley, 87, of Manchester, KY, passed away Wednesday, September 1st. Viola was born in Manchester, KY on August 17, 1934, a daughter of the late Alex and Georgia Davis Smith.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Mearl Stanley.
Viola is survived by her daughters: Penny Cupp and husband Doug of Burning Springs, Abbie Grubb of Goose Rock, and Rose Webb and husband Ben of London; Sandra Kay Dass of Indiana, who she thought of as a daughter; her son-in-law, Vernon Smith of London; and by 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by two brothers: Don Smith of Goose Rock, and Fred Gibson of London.
In addition to her husband and parents, Viola was preceded in death by her children: Billy Stanley, Ondie Stanley, Rose Lee Smith, Peggy Jackson, and Mearly Stanley, Jr.; two sons-in-law, Preston Jackson and Mark Grubb; and the following brothers and sisters: William Smith, Mildred Smith, Clarence Smith, D. C. Smith, Nola Smallwood, Mattie Henson, Nancy Henson, Ken Smith, Roy Lee Smith, and J. C. Smith.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 6th at Britton Funeral Home, with Todd Martin and Charles Jones officiating. Burial will follow at the Manchester Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at 6:00 PM on Sunday, September 5th at Britton Funeral Home.
