Elizabeth Couch, age 86 of Oneida, departed this life on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at her home. She was born on Tuesday, July 5, 1938 in Lucky Fork, in Owsley County, Kentucky to Letcher Baker and Bessie Roberts Baker Hornsby. She was a merchant, worked at the school cafeteria, was a devout Christian, was a member of the Brutus Baptist Church, attended the Oneida Community Church, sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years and was a volunteer and supporter of the WLJC Hour of Harvest.
She is survived by her children: Deborah Couch, Sheila Gay and Palis Bowling and Phillip Couch and Sonja, her daughter-in-law: Sarah Couch, her grandchildren: Michael Couch, Scott Couch, T. C. Couch, Ginny Books, Bryan Gay, Tyler Ruprich, Nevaeh Ruprich-Couch, Jonathan Couch, Mercedes Couch and Lily Wynn as well as many great grandchildren and her sister: Margaret Youtsey.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Letcher Baker and Bessie Roberts Baker Hornsby, her husband: Troy Couch, her son: Troy Glen Couch, her granddaughter: Heather Yvonne Gay Miller and her brothers: Paul Baker, Robbie Baker and Harlan Baker.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to WLJC or the Bluegrass Care Navigators.
Funeral Services for Elizabeth Couch will be conducted on Monday, December 16, 2024 at 12 PM at the Oneida Community Church. Todd Hicks and Phyllis Baker Amerson will be presiding. She will be laid to rest in the Esau-Gabbard Cemetery in Owsley County.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Monday, December 16 at 11 AM at the Oneida Community Church.
