Mr. Joe B. Smith, age 80 of Manchester, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013 at his home. He was born May 15, 1932 in Clay County, Kentucky to the union of Willie and Mittie Sizemore Smith.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of the Holiness faith.
He is survived by his wife: Shirley Riley Smith, his children: Pamela Walden and her husband Clark, Bonnie Carpenter and her husband Gary, Joe B. Smith, Jr., and Josephine Couch. Also surviving are these step-children: Marina Smith, Beverly Spurlock, and Angela Sue Stevens, 16 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Willie and Mittie Smith, 1 brother: Johnny Smith and 3 sisters: Claudia Hollen, Idell Collins, and Suzanna Wombles, his step-son: Greg Spurlock, and his children: Ruth Bush and Bruce Smith.
Funeral Services for Mr. Joe B. Smith will be on Tuesday, January 15, at 1 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bobby Couch and Terry Smith will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery in the Elk Creek Community.
Visitation will be Monday, January 14, after 6 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
