Robert “Bob” Lee Bernard age 80, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2025 at his home at Goose Rock, Kentucky. Robert was born in Los Angeles, California on September 30, 1944, the son of the Late Howard Bernard and Irma Jewell Wagers Wooley.
He was a member of the Whitehall Baptist Church. He was a former employee of The Daily Oklahoman Newspaper, The Colorado Springs Sun Newspaper, The Rocky Mountain News and the Clay County Board of Education.
Robert was preceded in death by his mother-Jewell, father-Howard and sister, Judy E. Cotey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is survived by his sons Shawn Bernard, Talequah, Oklahoma, and Scott Bernard and wife, Malinda, Yukon, Oklahoma. His grandchildren include: Morgan Bernard, Shyanne Bernard, Shamus Bernard and Alyssa Bernard and one great-grandchild, Lottie Jewell Bernard. He is also survived by his brother, Van Hollen and wife Birdie of Choctaw, Oklahoma. Other survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was a Veteran of the US Army and the US Marine Corps and a proud member of the Cherokee Nation-Western Band.
A Memorial Service for Robert “Bob” Lee Bernard will be conducted at a later date at the Jackson Wagers Cemetery in the Bright Shade Community.
