Vernon “Pete” Smallwood 83 of Manchester passed away Monday, February 24 at Landmark of Laurel Creek. Vernon was born April 12, 1941, to the union of Noah and Hester Smallwood.
He is preceded in death by his wife Bonnie Smith Smallwood and infant son Vernon Smallwood.
He is survived by two sons, Paul and wife Nancy Smallwood and Johnny Smallwood both of Manchester. Four granddaughters Dr. Cynthia Katie Smallwood, Cassie Teague, Shana Smallwood and Angel Smallwood. Six great-grandchildren, Jayden, Sophia, Ellie, Harris, Jaxon, and Ruby Kate. One brother, Kermit and wife Edith Smallwood.
Besides his wife, parents and son he is preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters, TJ Smallwood, AC Smallwood. Junior Smallwood, Virgie Stevens, Elaine Botner, Roy Smallwood, Della Smith, and Lorna Strong.
Services for Vernon will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 27th, at Britton Funeral Home, with Dave Balmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Mud Lick Cemetery on Sandhill.
Visitation for Vernon will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 27th, at Britton Funeral Home.
