Obituary for Larry Jackson

Larry Jackson, age 64, departed this life at home with his loving wife of 44 years, Paula by his side on Friday, February 21, 2025. He was born on Tuesday, September 13, 1960 in Beverly, KY to the union of Ora and Donna Mills Jackson.

He was the third of three children and was preceded in death by his father Ora Jackson, his brother Ronald Wayne Jackson and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Paul and Veda Hubbard Hibbard.

Larry, worked for Jackson and Jackson Construction and Mills Construction in Indianapolis, Indiana; Shamrock Coal Company, Manchester, Kentucky and Whitaker Coal Company in Leslie County, Kentucky. He also worked as an active farmer for many years. His passion for farming continued as a hobby for many years thereafter.

He was a member of Pleasant Run Baptist Church for 43 years and he was a former Deacon for 10 years and also an usher for nearly 30 years. His favorite Hymn was Amazing Grace. Larry presently attended New Beginnings Community Church.

Larry was also an avid coon hunter with a passion for his hunting dogs. He leaves to celebrate his life: his loving wife Paula, his mother Donna Mills Jackson; his brother Ronnie Jackson and wife Toni, his niece’s and nephew’s: Amanda Peters and husband James; Jeremy Jackson and wife Hope; Jamie Jackson and wife Brittany; whom Larry looked at more as his children. Other nieces and nephews Cory Dakin and wife Tracy; Ronald Brandon Jackson and wife Michele; Emily Shepherd and husband Justin; Jeremy Hoskins and his furry companion Daisy. Also surviving are Larry’s great nieces and great nephews: Christopher Peters, Jase Jackson, Jade, Jacob and Everly Jackson, Landry and Rhys Jackson, Mylee Jo and Raegan Shepherd.

Larry was also survived by Leonard Root whom he considered a son, his wife Chloe and Leonard’s siblings: Michael Root and wife Geneva; John Root and wife Ashley; Angela Henson and husband Christopher; Leanna Cash and husband Kyle; Clayton Raska and wife Samantha. Also surviving is Ellsey Root, Leonard Root, Jr., Adalyn Root, Maddie Root, Parker Henson, Jackson and Georgia Cash that he considered his grandchildren.

Larry impacted the lives of numerous people and families and all children especially loved Larry. He found delight in being a spectator at all sporting events of his nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Larry Jackson will be conducted on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 2:00 P. M. at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bobby Stevens, Rev. Bill Hurd and Rev. Barry Hubbard will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Ora Jackson Cemetery in the Brightshade Community or as Larry called it Hoot Owl Holler.

The family will receive friend and loved ones on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 6:00 P. M. until 9:00P. M. at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Rominger Funeral Home.

Pallbearers: Leonard Root, Jamie Jackson, Jeremy Jackson, John Root, Michael Root, Christopher Henson, Ronnie Jackson and Todd Wolfe.

Honorary Pallbearers: Bobbie Collins, Jamie Collins, Bill Hurd, Donnie Sams and Sammy Gregory and Jason Asher.
