Taylor "Tate" Rogers, age 76, died at his home on Island Creek, in Manchester, KY, on Tuesday, October 8th, 2013. His wife, Rosetta (Jarvis) Rogers was at his side.
Taylor was born June 8th, 1937, in Manchester, KY, from the union of Mattie (Hibbard) and Matt Rogers. He was affiliated with His Amazing Grace Holiness Church and was a familiar face in the Island Creek Community.
Taylor was preceded in death by his parents, Matt and Mattie Rogers and the following brothers and sisters: Delbert Rogers, Frank Rogers, Bill Rogers, Herbert Rogers, Carlos Rogers, Mary Betty Collins, Nancy Smith, Virgie Herd and Linda Rogers.
Taylor was survived by his children, Terri (David) Higgs of Georgetown, KY, Rose Rogers, and Myles (Tonya) Rogers both of Manchester, KY. Grandchildren include Brian (Beverely) Maxie, Gary (Mylinda) Hubbard, Christie Holland, Jacob Higgs, Emilee Higgs, Margaret Rogers, Taylor Rogers, Dustin Higgs, Matthew Higgs and the following Great-grandchildren, Gavan Holland, Levi Case Maxie and Gracelynn Faith Higgs. He was also survived by two special nephews, Charles Jarvis and Roger Jarvis, a special great-nephew, Kevin "Nub" Jarvis and a special great-niece, Selena "Sissy" Jarvis.
Also surviving are the following siblings, Lucinda Howard of Virginia, Sudie Mathis, Loretta France and Jesse Rogers of Manchester, as well as a host of nephews, nieces and loving family members.
Visitation services will be held Friday, October 11th, 6-9pm and Funeral services conducted by Carl Henson, Charlie Hubbard and Don Hubbard will be held Saturday, October 12th, 12pm at the Britton Funeral Home in Manchester, KY. His burial will be held at the Hurd Cemetery on Horse Creek immediately following the funeral service.
Donations or tributes in lieu of flowers can be made in Taylor Rogers' name to the Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital in Lexington, KY or the St. Jude's Children Research Hospital (tribute #34264584) in Memphis, TN.
