Evelyn Ponder Moore, 99, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at her home in Oneida, Kentucky.
She was born April 6, 1915, to the union of George Lafeyette and Lucy Hensley Ponder.
Evelyn is preceded in death her parents, George and Lucy Ponder, her husband of 66 years Elwood Moore, and three sons: Norwood Moore, George Ewing Moore, and Glenn Barkley Moore.
She is also preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters: Herbert Ponder, Claire Combs, William Ponder, Mary Allie Craig, Hazel Burns, and George Lafeyette Ponder, Jr.
Evelyn leaves surviving the following family: one daughter, Gloria Moore Bowling, and husband Ronnie Bowling; two grandchildren, Willie Elwood Bowling and wife Maggie, and Veronica Lynn Gay, and husband Tyler; and one great-grandchild, Eliza Belle Gay, all of Oneida, KY; and one brother Daniel Powers Ponder and wife Beulah of Garrard, Kentucky. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Evelyn was a member of the Oneida Baptist Church, a Sunday School teacher, and an active member of the Oneida chapter of the Eastern Star.
Funeral services for Evelyn Ponder Moore will be held 1PM Friday at the Oneida Baptist Church with Steve Crumpler and David Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Squire Hensley Cemetery at Oneida. Visitation will be after 6PM Thursday at the Britton Funeral Home chapel and after 10AM Friday at the Oneida Baptist Church until funeral hour.
