Rosetta “Rose” (Hobbs) Swafford, age 80 of Franklin, Indiana, passed away Friday morning, December 25, 2020 at Johnson Memorial Hospital. She was born on January 22, 1940 to the late John and Cleo (Smith) Hobbs in Clay County, Kentucky. Rosetta was an original coalminers daughter.

Dolly C. Kilburn was born in Wooton, Kentucky on November 23, 1932. She was of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of the Olive Branch Church in Renfro Valley. Dolly had been a life-long resident of Leslie County, except for living in Mount Vernon, Kentucky for the past three years. Dolly was a retired cook, employed by the Leslie County Fiscal Court where she cooked many years for the Leslie County Senior Citizens.
Winton “Smiley” Vallance
Mr. Winton “Smiley” Vallance, age 91 went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 20, 2020. He was born on Friday, May 10, 1929 in Big Creek, Kentucky to the union of Arthur and Lena Hacker Vallance. He worked in road construction, was a member of the Greenbriar Presbyterian Church, a Kentucky Colonel and a veteran of the United States Army where he served in the Korean Conflict.

Kathlyn Baker, 95, of Big Creek, KY, passed away Monday, December 21st, at the Landmark of Laurel Creek Nursing Home in Manchester. Kathlyn was born in Perry County, KY on May 14, 1925, a daughter of the late Logan and Addie Marcum Baker. Kathlyn was a retired teacher for the Clay County Board of Education.
