WCSD Press Release - Around 6 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2015, Deputy Brian Hensley responded to an incident approximately three miles East of Williamsburg along KY Hwy 92E.
Early investigation suggests that Jeremy Melton stopped to help Sheila Lawson, who’s vehicle had run out of gas. After going to Williamsburg to obtain gasoline, Melton returned Lawson to her vehicle.
Melton, believing Lawson had cleared the vehicle, drove away. However, Lawson was somehow still connected to the vehicle. Lawson was dragged for approximately one-sixteenth of a mile before Melton realized what was happening.
Lawson was airlifted to University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Dep. Hensley is continuing the investigation, and no charges have been filed against either subject.
